Microteaching is an unfamiliar teaching tool for me as i am so used to face to face teaching that it becomes an unfamiliar environment. We live in a world were adapting is essential for our everyday lives.

Online teaching allows for interaction it is a way to navigate new things that i never knew even existed. It is an adaptive way that allows for you to take control of the learning environment but virtually. I liked that it is easy to use as sometimes navigating online seems so overwhelming to me but once you start it becomes easier and easier. i personally like it as i am a home body which allows for me to teach in my own home environment. You are in the comfort of your own home and i can teach at my own pace which i really like about specifically blackboard collaborate as there is many tools in which allows for it to be an interactive lesson. i personally like it as it allows for you to adapt new teaching strategies such as online teaching games it makes the lesson become more fun and engaging by asking learners questions like you are in a normal classroom

With online teaching becomes a lot of frustration so i find i need to be patient as it is out of my control. It becomes very delayed for instance while i was using blackboard in order to share my screen i would have to wait a few minutes. This creates time wastage during the lesson. We all know as teachers we are on a time crunch in order to get the content complete. Secondly in a time of uncertainty such as load shedding many students cannot join or there signal drops which happened to me while i was doing my teaching. By this learners have extra work to catch up on when it is completely out of their control. When connection issues take place i dislike how it disrupts the entire lesson. You have to constantly log in and out of the session which also creates time wastage of a lesson. I also don't like how a learner could be online but not even interacting in the lesson and could be doing other things as there is no control of the learning environment. By this i could be asking questions and no one responds it is up to the learner to want to take part and participate in the lesson.

New skills i learnt from this experience is preparation is key to be organised all your tabs need to be open and uploaded for the lesson to go smoothly. i also learnt to be patient when my computer kept loosing signal.

What i would do differently i think i would make my slides a lot more interactive by using animation as i used canva. For instance i taught 3D objects i would like to spend more time on each specific shape. I will also be more interactive by turning my camera on and showing the learners different physical shapes so the lesson can be more engaging.

Yes , i did choose the appropriate tools to teach online i used Kahoot which is an interactive tool. It allowed for gamification to take place as learners participated in the quiz. It was also appropriate as it allowed for me to ask learners questions to asses their knowledge if they understood the lesson. i also made use of slides which was created on canva it allow for learners to follow along as the slides were colourful and age appropriate in order to hook them.

This experience has developed me for school as it has allowed for me to adapt the lessons accordingly as learners engage better face to face but when learners have an online tool they are more interested in the lesson that's why i feel it is more important to incorporate it into the classroom. It has prepared me by having more physical objects in the classroom and show learners each shape step by step by using the slides. It has developed me in the sense i know what i need to work on by having concrete examples in the classroom as learners will learn better. It has also prepared me to be more calm instead of rushing and talking fast as the lesson will be face to face and i will be going at a pace learners are use to and not rushing. It will also develop me as a teacher to be more aware of what is happening in the classroom and be of assistance as you cannot attend to all the questions online were as in class you can help the learners one on one.

I really enjoyed your lesson as a whole, and I love how in-depth you went in your reflection, really looking at each aspect of your lesson!

I think that your lesson was really fun and interactive how you did it, and even with some of the challenges that you faced you still did really well by keeping calm and carrying on with your lesson in the way that you felt was right.

I think you did really well. Well done Anastasia :)
